{"id":3498,"date":"2026-08-05T21:39:46","date_gmt":"2026-08-05T21:39:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.turnipsontour.com\/?p=3498"},"modified":"2026-08-05T21:40:58","modified_gmt":"2026-08-05T21:40:58","slug":"day-37-65-km-total-1966-km","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.turnipsontour.com\/?p=3498","title":{"rendered":"Day 37 &#8211; 65 km Total &#8211; 1966 km"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>What a day!!!!<\/p>\n<p>In all the years I have cycled I have never encountered sustained head \/ side winds like today&#8230;.<br \/>It went on for our first 45 km &#8211; took us 5 hours rests&#8230;( with a 2km respite due to sand dunes)<br \/>It then continued more or less for the final 20km!!!!!<\/p>\n<p>Wind speeds of 20 knots (35 km\/hour) with gusts&#8230;<br \/>At times it even pushed my bike sideways!<\/p>\n<p>Despite this we boxed on and at 4,15 while sitting in a bus shelter for some respite we found a flat in Alkmaar&#8230;..2 hours later we arrived.
