Perfect day of riding: flat, cycle paths virtually the whole day, 22, overcast, little bit of tail wind at times….
Leading up to lunchtime there were dark clouds coming up and the forecast said it was going to rain for an hour. As we rode into a small town we found a pizza shop in the corner, next to Lidl so we decided to have pizza for lunch: sure enough, the forecast was accurate and as we sat there safely it started raining and finished within 45 minutes, allowing us to continue
The riding continued for two hours to our Warmshowers host for the night, Heidi, in a small town called Weener
Heidi was wonderful and generously offered us her house and a room to sleep. We really enjoyed talking to Heidi and were shown around town after dinner. It is amazing how much you see when you "get behind the scenes". Saturday morning Heidi had to leave by 8am and allowed us to stay in the house with the keys – just needed to lock when we left! Thank you Heidi!
