Day of mixed fortunes….
Started off earlier than we normally do and first 12 km were awesome. Warmish sunny no wind and along a bike path behind the dyke…
Nec minute…Kristers rear tyre got a flat. The one we fixed 2 weeks ago – surprised it lasted that long…
No worries: put in a new tube and then realised there was a small hole in the tyre.
No worries: replace tyre but then we couldn’t get the last bit to go on. Was really tight.
Phaffed about for a while (and wrecked a tube in the process) before a cyclist stopped to see if we needed help. We gratefully accepted and we finally got it on
We had a good chat and he suggested a good bike store in Bremerhaven, down the road and which we were cycling through….This was essential as we did not have any more spare tubes or spare tyre
Cycling through Bremerhaven was not an entirely pleasant ride:a very big port city with lots of trucks on the road and riding on pavements the whole time and sunny and quite warm (30) and no shade) . Finally arrived at the bike store at 3pm and then ate lunch at the back of a Lidl store in the shade
Rode another 1.5 hours to a very nice campsite (even had a bar and poured some very fine cold german beer. Good end to a frustrating day!
