After talking with our camp neighbours we decided to do a slight detour to a town called Franeker, where there is a planetary museum housing the oldest working planetarium
Completed in 1781 after 7 years it is a working model and quite incredible…. everything us linked. What a genius!!!!
Alas these pictures do not do the museum justice….
Prior to the museum we found an incredible bakery….
We then rode towards the long dam passage into heavy headwind (we were finally punished…..)
We decided that riding 30 km in a straight line along the dam wall into the wind starting at 3.30 pm was not a viable option so we took the bus….yes a little bit of cheating…but the km number today excludes the 30 km….
Then rode 30 mins to our camp site where we are the only guests tonight….
Booked our ferry tickets to the UK on Friday so have 180 km to do in 2 1/2 days….
